One of the items that will be presented at the 06/28/2021 Appleton Area School District Board of Education meeting is the number of high school students who failed at least one second semester class.

Although the presentation slides have not been posted on Board Docs yet, I can report that, per an email to me from AASD Chief Financial Officer Greg Hartjes, for the second semester, a total of 25.4% of students failed at least 1 second semester class. This is down slightly from the 27.6% of students who failed at least one first semester class.

Interestingly, there is a marked difference between the failure rate at North vs the failure rates at East and West.
North’s failure rate was only 19% whereas West’s was 29% and East’s was 30%. Hopefully that disparity will be delved into in greater detail at the Board meeting on Monday.
