Two Weeks Remain For AASD Residents To Provide Feedback On Proposed Renaming Of Lincoln Elementary

Two weeks remain for Appleton Area School District residents to provide public feedback on the proposal to rename Lincoln Elementary School.

Residents who live within the district’s boundaries can provide community feedback regarding that question here: http://www.aasd.k12.wi.us/news/what_s_new/board_seeks_public_input_on_requested_renaming

Just to recap, a couple years ago Mayor Tim Hanna formed a committee of City of Appleton employees, AASD employees, and community members and tasked them with the goal of figuring out a way to honor Ron Dunlap. Mr. Dunlap was a former principal of Lincoln Elementary, so the committee eventually recommended that he should be honored by removing “Lincoln” as the name of the school and renaming the school “Ronald C. Dunlap Elementary – Home of the Lincoln Lions”. The AASD Board of Education voted to consider the name change and is now seeking community feedback on the renaming.

That community feedback survey is open to all residents of the Appleton Area School District (which is predominantly Appleton and Grand Chute) and can be accessed here: http://www.aasd.k12.wi.us/news/what_s_new/board_seeks_public_input_on_requested_renaming

The survey will close at 4PM on Friday, June 18, 2021.
