The Appleton Area School District Board of Education is meeting 05/24/2021 at 6PM.
Perhaps the most interesting item for the general public is the fact that they will be voting on the process for gathering public feedback regarding the proposed renaming of Lincoln Elementary to Ronald C. Dunlap Elementary – Home of the Lincoln Lions. The Business Services Committee (composed of Jim Bowman and Ed Ruffolo) recommended limiting the survey to only residents of the Appleton Area School District and asking them to rank their preference for a number of different naming options. However, the final survey form and parameters could change depending on what the full Board decides.
There will also be a Safe and Resilient Return report. I have noticed that some parents are frustrated by AASD’s lack of a definitive answer as to how the upcoming school year will look and whether student masking will be required. We’ll see what if anything the Leadership team has to say about those issues.
There will be a Coherent Governance Board Policy Adoption Update.
The Board will be voting on whether to renew Classical School’s five year charter contract.
They will also be voting on whether to adapt and purchase Mystery Science curriculum for their K-5 students.
