The election results brought some surprises and some not-so-much surprises.
Kay Eggert and Ed Ruffolo were both elected to the Appleton Area School Board.
Although Sheri Hartzheim was not successful in getting elected to the school board, she appears to have narrowly eeked out a win for the District 13 Common Council seat she was vying for against incumbent and Council President Kyle Lobner. It initially appeared that he was up by 8 votes, however, the clerk found an error which put Sheri up by 2.
He posted what could be viewed as a concession post on Facebook, but he is also still considering requesting a recount.
The other races were much less nail biting. Incumbents William Siebers, Brad Firkus, and Katie Van Zeeland all gained reelection (as did Maiyoua Thao and Alex Schultz who each ran unopposed)
Chad Doran and Kristin Alfheim rach won races that had no incumbents and will be joining the Council for the first time.
