The Library Board is scheduled to meet 03/16/2021 at 4:30 pm.
They have two action items on the agenda.
1.Reviewing the February bill register.
2.Voting on the “request to endorse the City of Appleton Common Council Finance Committee’s approval to award a design and engineering services contract for the Appleton Public Library to Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in the amount of $2,721,389 with a 5% contingency of $136,070 for a project total not to exceed $2,857,459.” This is still an early step in the library project.
There are also several reports including updates on the continuity of operations and library services as well as an update on hiring.
They will also be reviewing year end statistics. As one might expect, most things were down as compared to 2019. Total circulation dropped 76% from 2019 to 2020, but e-circulation ended the year up by 17% compared to the previous year. Some of the programs they offered ended up serving more people in 2020 than in 2019. Young Adult Self Directed Activity Participants went from 5 in 2019 to 86 in 2020, and there were 607 Children’s Literacy Offering Participants in 2020 compared to 0 in 2019.
The President’s Report is “Servant Leadership and the Library Trustees”. It looks like there’s a power point presentation about what a trustee’s role is. I don’t know if they’ll be going through that in an in-depth way or not.
Finally, there will be updates on the children’s services programming and community partnerships.
