I got a little behind and didn’t post this before it happened.
The Human Resources and Information Technology Committee met tonight, 03/10/2021, at 6:30pm. There were three action items on the agenda.
The first was a “request to approve Valley Transit to reclassify a Road Supervisor to an Operations Supervisor”. The move would allow more flexibility in scheduling, but it would also result in a pay raise for the employee. The end burden to Appleton, however, would only be a bit more that $1,000.
There was also a “request to award Heartland Business Solutions the contract to purchase and implement a new Palo Alto Firewall high availability system…for a project total of $95,417.”
Finally, they discussed alderperson salaries. As you may recall, due to covid, they missed their deadline to increase alderperson salaries across the board in April 2022.
Per the memo from the assistant city attorney, they have two options.
1) For staggered salaries, the Council may establish alderpersons’ salaries for Alderpersons in Districts 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14 for terms starting in April 2022 prior to December 1, 2021 and subsequently establish salaries for Alderpersons in Districts 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 who will begin their term in April 2023 prior to December 1, 2022; or,
2) For a single adjustment, establish the salary for all alderpersons seated on the Council in April 2023 prior to December 1, 2021.
The video and minutes of the meeting should be available in the next day or two.
