Library Board Meeting Scheduled For 02/23/2021

The Library Board is meeting 02/23/2021 at 1pm.

In addition to some budget items, items of interest on the agenda include the fact that, with coronavirus cases dropping in Appleton, APL is now beginning to plan to reopen the library to the public at 25% capacity. The “first phase will include picking up holds, access to computers, and access to the copier and public fax machine.” They note this will happen “as long as the rates continue to support this.”

They also received 11 proposals for the new library project. Those will come before the Finance Committee on 03/08, and before the Library Board and Common Council on 03/16 and 03/17.

They’re also “excited to offer two powerful youth books to the community for reflection, discussion, and community engagement this year.” The first book is “George” by Alex Gino. “George is a candid and heartwarming story about a middle school transgender girl, Melissa.”

The second book is “The Voting Booth”, by Brandy Colbert. “This young adult novel weaves themes of voter suppression, race relations, mental health, and other topics in a stunning and thought-provoking novel.”
