James Clemons To Fill Board of Education Vacancy – Serve For Next Two Months

James Clemons has been chosen to fill the vacancy on the school board. He will serve for the next two months until the individuals who win the April 6 election are sworn in.

Sheri Hartzheim was the only person under consideration for the position who is also on the April 6 ballot, and she was nominated by Deb Truyman by virtue of that fact. However, none of the other board members opted to second her nomination so she did not advance in the process.

James Clemons and Katie Van Groll both received nominations and seconds. The first vote was split 3/3, so discussion ensued.

Deb Truyman and Gary Jahnke both stated that they valued Jim’s experience in city government and thought his governance experience as well as his community experience would be beneficial even for 2 months.

Barry O’Connor thought Katie Van Groll’s experience with kids as a social worker would be helpful.

The second vote split 5/1 for James Clemons. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, he will be filling the vacancy and serving on the Board of Education for the next two months.
